The collecting society VG BILD-KUNST is the copyright organization representing German artists, photographers, and film creators.
On behalf of its members and members of foreign sister organizations, it administers all copyrights in the visual arts sector that individual creators cannot exercise themselves for practical or legal reasons. VG BILD-KUNST is divided into three professional groups:
Group I: Visual artists
Group II: Photographers, photojournalists, designers, caricaturists, press illustrators, and image agencies
Group III: Film producers, directors, cinematographers, film editors, and set and costume designers
Book publishers are assigned to either Group I or Group II, depending on the primary focus of their publishing activities.
